Spunky, isn't he?

This page contains links(in alphabetical order with respect to the topic) to quizzes I have made up for a variety of topics (-so they are relevant to our work!)

Acid-Base Quiz
based on the Yr. 11 work (or as review for Yr. 12)

Atomic Theory Quiz
Suitable for Years 11 and 12. Uses spdf notation for electronic configuration. You can challenge another player to pick questions from the board or play alone with this one. Please excuse the lack of superscripts with the electronic configurations - it wouldn't let me do it!! grrr!
Year 11s do Atomic Theory at the start of the year while the 12s come back to it at the end of Unit 4. The questions on the development of atomic theory and important scientists are directed at Yr 12s but 11s are always welcome to give it a go! :)

The History of Chemistry- Scientists and their Discoveries
In flashcards/matching games style. Find out who did what!

Timeline of Atomic Theory Development
Now that you've worked out who did what (see above), see if you can work out when they did it!

Analytical Techniques
Not one but two quizzes on Analytical Chem. Oh, joy!! In fact, there's more than two because this first game is a collection of smaller games like concentration and matching cards based on the types of analyses studied in Unit 3.

Analytical Chemistry
This one is in the "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" style - but no Eddie. Ah well!! By the way, I'm not handing out prize money!!

Bonding
Matching card game on bonding types-Ionic, Metallic and Covalent and Inter- and Intra-molecular.

Carbon Chemistry
A fairly short standard quiz on definitions and naming carbon compounds. Suitable for Yr 11(Unit 1) and Yr 10 Carbon Chemistry students.

Another Carbon Chem Quiz for Year 11
pick whether you want plain multiple choice or 'thrillionaire' style.

Electrochemical Series
Yes, I can feel the excitement mounting. In this game, you need to order metals from least reactive to most reactive using the clues given. Don't look up your books, will you? hmmm

Galvanic and Electrolytic Cells
In the "Who wants to be a millionaire" style.

Food for Thought - Food Chemistry Quiz
In the "Who wants to be a millionaire style" and covers the whole area of study.

Gases of the Atmosphere
25 questions to creating an atmosphere of...study? Hope it won't put you under too much pressure! (he he)

Gases of the Atmosphere Challenge BoardTry it alone or with a friend

History of Chemistry-Scientists and their discoveries
This is in flashcard/matching games style. Good for revising who did what.

Ionic Formulae
Get some practice at writing the correct ionic formula for a given ion. Sorry about the lack of subscripts- I just can't do it on this program!

Industrial Chemistry
A multiple-choice quiz on the production of sulfuric acid and petrochemicals.

Oxidation-Reduction
Aimed at Year 11 but could be useful revision for Year 12.

pH Scale
Arrange familiar substances according to their pH, from lowest to highest.

Surface Chemistry
Written for Unit 1 - Study Area 3

Rising Surface Tension
Use the clues to order 5 substances according to their ability to wet each other. Sure to whet your appetite!

Thermochemistry Quiz
Also has questions on energy transformations and efficiencies.

Here's a whole new collection of Quizzes from different authors at the Quia site. These are ones that I have found to be most relevant to our work.

Chemical Bonds
Starting level practice.

Electronic Configuration
spdf orbitals.

Families on the Periodic Table
Looks at groups.

Molecular Compounds
More memory helpers here.

Polyatomic Ions
Practice naming these.

Organic Nomenclature
Naming organic compounds - not too hard.

Organic Chemistry
Another organic naming quiz.

Gas Laws and Calculations
You may need a calculator for this.

Organic Chemistry
Suitable for Yr. 12.

Equilibrium
A fairly basic quiz using Le Chatelier's principle.

pH and pOH
More pH practice.
